Global Policyholder Alliance launched by WILHELM and leading multinational firms
WILHELM is among the founding members of the newly established Global Policyholder Alliance (GPA), an international network of specialist law firms dedicated to representing policyholders.

Launched together with leading UK law firm Stewarts, the alliance brings together 14 independent firms from Europe, North America, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific region, with a presence across 23 jurisdictions. The GPA is the largest global network of specialist advisors focused exclusively on the interests of policyholders.
Growing Need for Cross-Border Coverage Expertise
Businesses operating internationally face an increasingly complex risk environment. Global supply chain disruptions, cyber incidents, geopolitical conflicts and natural catastrophes are creating a growing number of insurance and liability disputes with cross-border dimensions. While insurers have long benefited from access to international law firms and global networks dedicated to insurance-sector representation, policyholders have lacked a comparable platform for specialist legal support.
The Global Policyholder Alliance addresses this gap. By bringing together leading policyholder-focused firms, the GPA enables seamless cooperation in insurance coverage disputes, major losses and other critical business situations across jurisdictions. Collectively, the alliance's member firms comprise more than 2,500 lawyers worldwide.
Local Expertise, Global Reach, No Conflicts
Mark Wilhelm, Founder and Partner of WILHELM, commented: “It is often difficult for companies operating internationally to find lawyers abroad with the necessary expertise in insurance law who are not already acting on behalf of insurers and are therefore ‘in a conflict of interest’. Thanks to our network, these experts are just a phone call away. This makes it much easier to enforce claims quickly and effectively in cross-border disputes.”
The alliance's members include among others Stewarts (England & Wales), Cohen Ziffer (United States), Loyens & Loeff (Netherlands and Luxembourg), Al Tamimi (including the UAE), Nater Dallafior (Switzerland), and a number of other renowned firms specialising in insurance dispute resolution. The network is expected to continue expanding in the coming years.
